As a core team member, I tried to talk Chris out of building LiveView. I was wrong. Hype for LiveView grew, and I assumed it would only be a back-office tool. I was wrong again. I now believe we can and should use it everywhere. Throughout this talk, you'll find out why. The past few years, I've had the chance to use LiveView in production: replacing old SPA's that nobody wanted to touch, writing green field applications, and even adding some interactivity to mostly static sites. Through practical examples, we'll take a tour of my lessons learned as a contractor using LiveView across this variety of projects. We'll see how little code it takes to tackle those dynamic features and how LiveView lets you focus on delivering value rather than wrangling layers of client/server tooling. Whether on the fence about LiveView or all-in but just getting started, you'll leave this talk with practical insights to use in your own applications and if we're lucky, a new appreciation for just what LiveView has to offer.
Chris McCord (Fly.io) delivers the Friday keynote at ElixirConf US 2022 and covers the updates in Phoenix v1.7 and LiveView v0.18.

To learn more about Elixir & Phoenix, checkout my course: "Elixir & Phoenix for Beginners" 🤍 In this video, you'll learn about a new technology called Phoenix LiveView. So What's Phoenix LiveView? It's a library that allows you to build web applications that offer rich, real-time user experiences while avoiding the massive complexity associated with writing and maintaining Single Page Applications. I like to think of it as a sensible alternative to Single Page Applications. NOTE: This video was created for web developers who don't know Phoenix or Elixir, however if you do know Phoenix & Elixir, you should still find a lot of value in this video. As front-end, back-end, and hosting technologies have become more complex over time, the concept of a full-stack engineer has faded. Elixir and Phoenix LiveView reverses that trend. In this presentation, you’ll see what differentiates Phoenix LiveView from the typical stack used in most new applications and what inspired the former president of OJUG to take all of his Java books to the Goodwill and go all-in on Elixir! Presented at Omaha Java User Group on September 22, 2022 🤍

In this video we'll go over a Phoenix LiveView vs React comparison, what the their advantages and disadvantages are, and which one you should pick for your project. While both are great, each one should be used for a different type of project, since Phoenix LiveView is great for handling data between the client and server, but React is great for build user interfaces.

Pick Up LiveView Pro Here: 🤍 I recently had a chance to meet the inventor of the LiveView Pro out at our club so I could do this review. I had heard about it a while back but didn't take the time to see how incredible it actually is. The LiveView Pro acts as a digital swing mirror. This means you can see your down the line swing view right in front of you. How it does this is by connecting to your ipad. So you set the ipad at your feet. You put the LiveView Pro down the line. Now, as you make swings, you can see exactly what you are doing. In the past, if I wanted to see this view of my swing I would set up my phone on a tripod down the line. I would make a few swings then go back to my phone and review them. No anymore. No going back to your phone. You see this view of your swing live right in front of you. This is not to say that the LiveView Pro is only for down the line. You could position it behind you, on an angle and even in front of you (I would do this in practice swings). You can use this for pitching, chipping and bunker shots. It's great for putting too. You can literally sit it on the green behind you as you make you stroke to see if you are coming too much from the inside or out. You can then position the tripod above your stroke to see how the putter face is contacting the ball. Hopefully you see how amazing the LiveView Pro is. If only I had this years ago when I was working on my swing. This would have saved me years of practice because I would have know instantly if I was working on the right thing or not. In my honest opinion, the LiveView Pro truly is the best training aid for golf on the market today. Do yourself a favor and pick one up today. Watch live as our mega Moon rocket launches an uncrewed Orion spacecraft on a six-week mission around the Moon and back to Earth. NASA is targeting Wednesday, Nov. 16, for the launch of the Artemis I Moon mission during a two-hour launch window that opens at 1:04 a.m. EST (0604 UTC). During #Artemis I, Orion will lift off aboard the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, and travel 280,000 miles (450,000 km) from Earth and 40,000 miles (64,000 km) beyond the far side of the Moon, carrying science and technology payloads to expand our understanding of lunar science, technology developments, and deep space radiation. Through Artemis missions, NASA will land the first woman and the first person of color on the Moon, paving the way for a long-term lunar presence and serving as a steppingstone to send astronauts to Mars.
