In June 2020, a fight broke out between Chinese and Indian border guards in the border area of the Galwan Valley. Depending on which sources you read, some 20 Indian soldiers died. China releases footage of last year's deadly border clash with India China and India clash at Galwan Valley clash Chinese media released unique footage of the deadly border clash between Chinese and Indian troops in the disputed Western Himalayas region last June. The incident left four Chinese and 20 Indian soldiers dead. The video shows a massive force of Indian troops advancing on a significantly less sizeable Chinese unit while crossing a mountain river. The release of the previously unseen footage comes after the Chinese military broke its eight-month silence on the event. The two nations have recently reached a disengagement agreement and are currently pulling their troops from the disputed border. China’s military said on Friday that four of its soldiers were killed during a bloody Himalayan border clash with Indian forces last June, the first time Beijing has publicly conceded its side suffered casualties in the deadliest incident between the Asian rivals in nearly 45 years. India at the time announced it had lost 20 of its soldiers in the June 2020 fighting in Galwan Valley in the Ladakh region just opposite Tibet. Soldiers used their fists, clubs, stones and other improvised weapons to avoid an out-and-out firefight. Beijing at the time acknowledged that the clash had resulted in casualties but did not confirm if any Chinese soldiers had died. The Chinese soldiers “sacrificed themselves” during the June confrontation in the contested Galwan Valley border area with an unnamed “foreign military”, China’s defence ministry said. The People’s Liberation Army Daily newspaper said the four Chinese soldiers and officers killed had all been bestowed with honours and named as martyrs, while a fifth was also awarded by the ruling Communist Party’s Central Military Commission. Stepping back The sides are now engaged in a phased withdrawal from their original positions following multiple rounds of negotiations. Earlier, unconfirmed reports had put the number of Chinese dead as high as 45, and Lieutenant General YK Joshi, who commands the Indian Army’s Northern Command, said Indian observers counted more than 60 Chinese troops being taken away on stretchers, though it was not clear how many had suffered fatal injuries. Joshi told Indian station News18 that Chinese forces had appeared unwilling to make concessions until Indian forces occupied commanding heights from August 29-30. An agreement to begin pulling back was reached on February 10. The tense standoff high in the Karakoram mountains began in early May, when Indian and Chinese soldiers ignored each other’s repeated verbal warnings, triggering a shouting match, stone throwing and fistfights on the northern bank of Pangong Lake, which is marked by eight contested ridges where rivers flow into the body of water.

The Ghost of Galwan haunts China again The bloody night of Galwan Valley incident has left deep scars inside the heart and mind of PLA soldiers. The impact of which can be recently seen when China in an attempt of intimating India has announced a deputed PLA officer who was part of the military command of PLA during the clash, as a torch bearer of the Beijing Olympics. But this attempt of China has done more harm then boasting their military might. India has responded by announcing the diplomatic boycott of the opening and closing ceremony of the event. United States has also criticized this move by Beijing and welcomed the India’s move of diplomatic boycott. Meanwhile the discussion has also fuelled up in Chinese social media regarding their CCP government hiding the actual number of casualties. The intimidation move by China was absolutely unnecessary, however by doing so they are only exposing their weakness to entire world. Official number of casualties After months of denial, China accepted in February 2021 that its four soldiers were killed in Galwan Valley clash. This was China's first official combat deaths since 1979 Vietnam attack which was another big national humiliation for China. It took nearly 8 months for China to acknowledge its fallen ones. At the same time India has reported that it lost 20 soldiers in the Galwan Valley clash. The Klaxon Report Recently a report has been published by Klaxon, an investigative Australian newspaper that specialises in exposing business wrongdoings and government corruption. The report has detailed explanation of what has happened on the bloody night of Galwan Clash and how China attempted to manipulate the evidence and reports to hide the actual number of casualties. As per the report at least 38 PLA troops were washed away and drowned during the Galwan valley clash. Medevac sorties post Galwan Incident The level of casualties at Chinese side can also be analysed from number of medical evacuation sorties conducted by Chinese helicopters. As per some unconfirmed reports, post the Galwan incident, there has been total 49 Helicopter assisted Medical evacuation sorties by PLA. The total stretchers per helicopter sortie is 4. Which means, total injured and killed soldiers of PLA should have been close to 49 × 4 i.e. 196. Qui Moumou Report Chew MOMO Qui Moumou, who is a senior reporter for China's top financial newspaper ('Economic Observer'), has been arrested by Chinese MSS for questioning CCP's fake Galwan clash narrative. He was once a celebrated reporter and even awarded by a CCP linked forum for exposing a massive fraud case in a Chinese stock exchange. But over the night he became a traitor. As per the Qui Moumou the expected casualties at Chinese side more than 60. As per reports, six bloggers were jailed by Beijing for reporting or question the casualties of PLA Soldiers. TASS Report A Russian news agency TASS has also reported that "Chinese and Indian forces clashed in the region in May and June 2020, resulting in at least 20 Indian and 45 Chinese servicemen dead.” Even US intelligence agencies have also reported the similar number of casualties at Chinese side. Conclusion The brawal of Galwan valley clash has left deep scars inside the PLA soldiers and no amount of psyops can hide the truth. Beginning on 5 May 2020, Chinese and Indian troops engaged in aggressive melee, face-offs and skirmishes at locations along the Sino-Indian border, including near the disputed Pangong Lake in Ladakh and the Tibet Autonomous Region, and near the border between Sikkim and the Tibet Autonomous Region. Additional clashes also took place at locations in eastern Ladakh along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The standoff between India and China has been continuing since early 2020. The China Daily in its publication on October 9 quoted sources from the Chinese military and said that on September 28, the Chinese border guards were carrying out routine patrols in the Dongzhang area on the Chinese side of the China-India border, but were “unreasonably blocked” by the Indian side. The paper quoted the Chinese source and said that the Dongzhang area was China’s inherent territory, and it was entirely reasonable and legal for the Chinese border guards to patrol their own territory. It rejected the Indian media’s hype about Chinese soldiers being detained for “crossing the line” and termed it false and inconsistent with the facts. The paper pointed that the responsibility rested entirely with the Indian side. According to the Economic Times, over 100 PLA soldiers crossed the border at Barahoti in Uttarakhand last month, damaged some infrastructure, including a bridge, before retreating. The ET quoting officials aware of the situation, said the movement of the Chinese PLA, as disengagement of troops in eastern Ladakh has been progressing well, has sounded the alarm bells in the central sector. The incident on August 30 did not result in a face-off as PLA soldiers returned before they could be confronted. Over 100 soldiers and 55 horses transgressed over 5 km of Indian territory by crossing the Tun Jun La Pass, security establishment insiders told ET. The sad state of affairs of the Indian army, low morale and unwillingness to defend their territory could be judged from the fact that even government officials in New Delhi confirmed that the Chinese soldiers along with military horses had come to the grazing ground near Barahoti, crossing the Tun Jun La Pass. On the contrary, the Indian army chief continues to cast an impression that his strong military force could take on the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA). Indian Chief of Army Staff General M M Naravane said the military build-up by China in the eastern Ladakh region and new infrastructure development to sustain the large-scale deployment were matters of concern and India has been keeping a close watch on all the activities. He said if the Chinese military maintains the deployment through the second winter, it may lead to an LoC-like situation (Line of Control) though not an active LoC which is present on the western front with Pakistan. He said the Indian Army too will maintain its presence on its side. Indian and Chinese militaries have been on a standoff in several areas along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh for over 17 months. Both sides had disengaged from a number of friction points this year following a series of talks; however military analysts believe that keeping in view India’s hegemonistic designs, it won't be long before they get "another beating by the Chinese". A BBC report of 16 June 2020 confirmed the killing of at least 20 Indian soldiers in a clash with Chinese forces in a disputed Himalayan border area, Indian officials say. The BBC had said the incident followed rising tensions and was the first deadly clash in the border area in at least 45 years. Initially, the Indian army initially said three of its soldiers had been killed, adding that both sides suffered casualties, but later admitted that a number of critically injured soldiers had died of their wounds. According to defence analysts, the images have been released by China, following Indian media’s propaganda. The pictures give clear evidence of how the Indian troops were defeated by the Chinese army while hundreds were captured after they were overcome by the Chinese soldiers.

China's military authorities have honored two officers and three soldiers, including four who received the awards posthumously, for defending the country's western border. The People's Liberation Army Daily on Friday reported that the Central Military Commission issued commendations to the servicemen for their role in bravely fighting back hostilities provoked by foreign forces at the Galwan Valley in June 2020. The title of "border-defending hero" was conferred on Battalion Commander Chen Hongjun posthumously, while Chen Xiangrong, Xiao Siyuan and Wang Zhuoran received first-class merit. They all died in a clash with trespassing foreign military personnel wielding steel tubes, cudgels and stones last June. Qi Fabao, who was seriously injured in the skirmish, received the title of "hero regiment commander for defending the border." This is the first time China has unveiled casualties and details of these officers and soldiers. The report also recounted the whole incident - how the Indian military deployed a large number of soldiers who premeditatedly hid, trying to force the Chinese military to concede, and how the Chinese soldiers defended the sovereignty of China bravely. An on-site video reveals in detail the four PLA martyrs and other brave Chinese soldiers at the scene of the Galwan Valley border clash with India in June 2020. "Since April 2020, relevant foreign military violated the previous agreement… they trespassed the border line to build roads and bridges and intentionally incited troubles, changing the status quo along the border… they even violently attacked Chinese soldiers that were sent for communication," read the PLA Daily report. In June 2020, the Indian military violated the previous consensus and trespassed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and built tents. Out of respect to previous agreements and rituals, Qi Fabao, regiment commander of the Chinese military, went to negotiate along with a few soldiers. However, the Indian military showed no sincerity and had already deployed more soldiers in an attempt to force the Chinese soldiers to concede. When facing more Indian soldiers appearing from nearby mountains, while reproaching the Indian military for destroying the agreement, Qi organized Chinese soldiers to move into combat formations and engage in any confrontation. The Indian military then started to attack the Chinese soldiers by using steel tubes and cudgels and throwing stones. Qi was under heavy attack and sustained a serious head injury. Chen Hongjun went to rescue Qi. Chen Xiangrong fought on the front lines and Xiao Siyuan, who was taking videos as evidence, also went to fight. With many Chinese soldiers coming to support and fight bravely, the Indian military were utterly defeated - many running away, leaving many injured and dead, according to the report. Chen Hongjun, Chen Xiangrong and Xiao Siyuan fought to the last minute and sacrificed their lives. Wang Zhuoran, a fellow soldier, also gave his life to rescue his comrades when crossing the river to support the others. More recently, tensions flared up in 2020 when troops from both sides clashed in the Galwan Valley, resulting in the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers and an unknown number of Chinese troops. Both countries have engaged in several rounds of talks to resolve the border dispute, but a permanent solution has yet to be reached. The main areas of disagreement include the Aksai Chin region, which is currently under Chinese control but is claimed by India, and the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, which China claims as part of its territory.
